Sancerre Domaine Daulny “Clos De Chaudenay” Vieilles Vignes

$0.00

100% Sauvignon Blanc

Ownership & history:
Domaine Daulny consists of 16 hectares of vines which have been in the family for many generations. Based in Chaudenay, Etienne Daulny owns parcels scattered across the Sancerre AOC, notably vines in Les Monts Damnés, Les Bois Butteux and La Perrière.

Clos de Chaudenay is a single vineyard cuvée from a gentle slope just above Verdigny. These southwest facing vines average 40 years of age.

Vineyard & Location
Etienne Daulny’s Sauvignon Blanc vines are centred in the tiny hamlet of Chaudenay, close by the village of Verdigny, located to the North/Northwest of the town of Sancerre.

Harvest, vinification & ageing
Daulny’s Sancerre is made and aged in stainless steel tanks without malolactic fermentation in order to conserve the fresh, bright fruit of the Sauvignon Blanc.

A tiny part of the blend is aged during 9 months in 600 liters oak barrels (“demi muits” ) . This touch gives the wine a bit more complexity without tasting oaky

Tasting
An intense, concentrated Sauvignon that displays, crisp, smoky citrus fruit overlaid with hints of honey and mineral. Well balanced and long, this is very interesting wine.
