The Cote du Py hill is the most prestigious terroir in Beaujolais. It is located in Morgon and its soil is composed of blue and grey granite in decomposition called schist or locally the "rotten rocks".

Varietal 100% Gamay Noir.
Vineyard area 4,5 acres.
Density of plantation 4000 vines per acre.
Vine Age 80 years old.

Soil type Schists of blue and grey granite in decomposition, veins of manganese (iron mineral).

Farming Sustainable farming, putting straw in the vines, plowing of the soil.
Winemaking 16 days maceration with partial (70-80%) destemmed clusters in gridded vats.
Aging Aged for 9 months in wooden vats called "foudre" beaujolais.
Clarification Light filtration.

Tasting Notes
A dark red robe with garnet tints. A nose very complex showing blackberries, roasted, smoky and tobacco notes. In the palate, the wine is very rich and elegant with fine and ripe tannins. An earthy finish marked with stone fruits notes.

Food pairings
Good with cassoulet, duck confit, games, lambs, rabbits, steaks.
